Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented FCA (Fire Code Assessment) Inspector to join our team on a part-time basis in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial fire and life safety inspections, along with hands-on knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with applicable fire codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive fire and life safety inspections of commercial properties
- Evaluate buildings for compliance with local, state, and national fire codes and standards
- Identify deficiencies, hazards, and code violations, and provide clear recommendations for corrective actions
- Prepare detailed, accurate, and timely inspection reports
- Review and assess fire protection systems, including alarms, sprinklers, and suppression systems
- Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and property stakeholders regarding inspection findings
- Verify compliance of electrical and mechanical installations with applicable safety regulations
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of fire codes, industry standards, and best practices
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial fire and life safety inspections
- Strong knowledge of fire codes (NFPA standards preferred) and regulatory compliance
- Experience in electrical and mechanical contracting or systems evaluation
- Excellent attention to detail and strong report-writing skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a part-time capacity
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Fire Inspector, NFPA certifications, ICC certifications) are highly preferred
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with Houston-area codes and permitting processes
- Experience with facility condition assessments (FCA) or similar evaluation programs
- Proficiency in inspection software and digital reporting tools
