Planner
Aoka is a third-party municipal services provider serving jurisdictions across Texas. We support local governments and private-sector partners with expert building inspections, plan reviews, zoning analysis, and code consulting—powered by our proprietary software that accelerates turnaround times and helps prevent costly development delays.
As we expand our planning and zoning services, we’re seeking a knowledgeable Part-Time Planner to support our municipal partners with land-use compliance, zoning review, and development application processing. This role is ideal for a planning professional looking for flexible hours, remote work, and meaningful impact in communities across Texas.
Qualifications:
• 2+ years of experience in planning, zoning, land-use review, or development services
• Strong understanding of zoning ordinances, land development codes, and comprehensive planning
• Experience reviewing site plans, zoning applications, or permits
• Familiarity with GIS tools (ArcGIS, QGIS) is a strong plus
• Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Public Administration, or related field preferred
• Tech savvy and comfortable using cloud-based software and workflow tools
Responsibilities:
• Review zoning applications, site plans, and land-use proposals for compliance with municipal codes
• Prepare clear, concise review comments and recommendations for applicants and jurisdictions
• Conduct zoning research, code interpretation, and parcel-level analysis
• Support municipalities with development review workflows and customer service inquiries
• Assist with long-range planning projects, zoning amendments, and policy updates when needed
• Coordinate with internal plan reviewers, inspectors, and jurisdictional stakeholders
• Maintain records and update project status through Aoka’s software platform
• Attend virtual meetings with cities, developers, and planning teams as required
Compensation & Work Details:
• $40–$50 per hour, depending on experience
• Up to 5% company match with 401(k)
• Remote role with flexible scheduling
