What You’ll Do
- Supervise building inspectors and manage inspection programs
- Serve as a subject matter expert supporting the sales team
- Conduct client visits as needed for complex or escalated projects
- Administer and enforce municipal, state, and federal building codes, safety, energy, and accessibility standards
- Oversee issuance of building permits, plan approvals, occupancy certificates, and inspection reports
- Interpret complex codes and provide guidance to architects, engineers, contractors, and property owners
- Collaborate with fire, planning, zoning, engineering, and public works departments for coordinated code enforcement
- Manage appeals, code updates, and ordinance revisions
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on inspections, permitting, and code compliance
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred
- ICC Certified Building Official (CBO) required; additional ICC certifications (Plans Examiner, Building Inspector) highly desirable
- Minimum 5–7 years of progressive experience in building inspection, code enforcement, or construction management
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience
- Strong analytical skills and ability to solve complex code-related issues under pressure
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills
